Your Opportunity
As the Assistant Payroll Officer, you will be responsible in providing support for all designated HR and Payroll processing activities and database maintenance and integrity.

This position reports to the Senior Payroll Officer, Office Manager and Chief Financial Officer.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • End to end fortnightly payroll processing.
  • Process timesheets and forms and maintain salary variations on a fortnightly basis including all allowances, commencements, terminations, leave and other relevant information on the computerized database in current and accurate form.
  • Interpret and advise on payroll related acts, awards, agreements, policies and procedures.
  • Attend to personnel and payroll enquiries as necessary.
  • Prepare reports and correspondence and undertake other administrative tasks, related to the full range of day-to-day and cyclical personnel/payroll functions.
  • Review employees’ entitlements (e.g. leave credits and accruals) ensuring that the information is correct on the system through a systematic audit process.
  • Assist Senior Payroll Officer with month end processing – meet deadlines with IRC and superannuation funds – SWT reporting compliance and lodgement of superannuation forms.

Other duties as required

  • The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:
  • Year 12 or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years payroll experience in a comparable role;
  • Excellent people skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Accurate data entry skills
  • Excellent time management & organizational skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a Team Player
  • Knowledge in computer software; MS Office and Dropbox
  • Knowledge of superannuation legislation
  • Previous experience with salary packaging
  • ABLE payroll and cloud-based systems experience highly desirable
